Herald For Mac

Via the Apple Notification Center you have the option to visualize an alert each time you receive a new email. Usually, the notification provides the message sender and the email subject, which means that you will have to navigate to the Mail window to read the email’s content.

Herald is a small but efficient Mail.app plug-in that is able to display alerts that contain the entire message body. As a result, you will be able to read your correspondence on the spot, without having to leave your work and browse your inboxes.

Since Herald will integrate with your Apple Mail, you must quit the application before launching the plug-in installer. The process is fairly intuitive since all you have to do is follow the onscreen directions.

Noteworthy is that the Herald package also includes an uninstaller: if you want to remove the plug-in correctly, using this utility is imperative.

Via the Mail.app Preferences window you get to access the Herald Settings window and easily customize the appearance of the notification window: you get to adjust the transparency level, the window style, the text size, the header content, and more.

The same area allows you to specify which management buttons should be enabled: delete, junk, archive, reply, forward, view in Mail, or mark read. Having all these buttons visible is extremely useful because you have the opportunity to perform simple mail management tasks without having to go through the full featured Mail.app user interface.

Herald provides a simple solution for accessing the content of your emails without interrupting your workflow: you get to read the message within a small, unobtrusive notification window, write quick replies if necessary, or perform simple management tasks (mark as read, archive, forward, and more).
