If you are using GitHub to keep track of all your development projects, you can see all your alerts and notifications in the Git application, or on the web platform.

However, if you need more streamlined access to your latest alerts, Gitify offers you the possibility to view them in your status bar.

Right off the bat, within the Gitify application, you must input your GitHub credentials and authorize the application to access your personal user data and your notifications. Note that Gitify will have read-only access.

The best part is that all this happens in a Gitify window, so you do not have to go through a third party web browser.

Gitify will automatically pull your latest GitHub alerts and will display them in its status bar panel in list form. You have the option to open each entry in your browser and tick the ones that you have verified.

All the ticked notifications will automatically disappear when the list is refreshed. Note that Gitify launches the refresh process periodically, but you can also trigger it manually.

For your convenience, Gitify also comes with a simple search tool that will prove to be very useful if you receive a large number of alerts.

Keep in mind that you can choose to see only the alerts for the projects in which you are participating.

The main goal of the Gitify app is to help you see all your GitHub alerts in the status bar, without having to open the Git desktop app, or keeping your account open in a browser.

Gitify will also display visual or audio alerts when something changes. This way, you will always know if you need to check your account, even if you are currently working on something else.
