Ensafer for Mac
Ensafer is a user-friendly solution to encrypting your files in cloud services such as Dropbox and iCloud before syncing them with other devices with Ensafer installed.
The application uses the strong end-to-end encryption algorithm and makes sure nobody else but you can access your files.
Like Dropbox, Ensafer provides a local folder to which you copy the files / folders you want to securely sync with other devices through Dropbox or iCloud.
Let’s use Dropbox as an example. After copying them to the Ensafer folder, they automatically get sent to Dropbox inside a special folder where the files are encrypted.
Although you will not be able to access the files from Dropbox, you will access them from the Ensafer folder on other devices. This is possible because the app was designed to detect encrypted files, then to fetch and decrypt them from the cloud to your local Ensafer folder.
This explains the basic workflow. Furthermore, Ensafer provides a menu bar panel that you can use to access the Ensafer folder, encrypt a selected file, share folders within the Ensafer folder or access the preferences. Thus, it is possible to share Ensafer folders with your contacts in just a few steps.
The safety of your files are ensured by industry standard AES and RSA cryptography. Moreover, the app’s encryption platform implements 2048-bit SSL, 256-bit AES encryption, 2048-bit RSA keys, X.509 certificates and PKCS#12 key containers. Moreover, your encryption keys are also encrypted before leaving your Mac.
To conclude, Ensafer provides a reliable alternative to encrypting files in the cloud (Dropbox and iCloud) before syncing them to other devices. It makes sure no one else has access to your files and decrypts them after they leave the cloud. On top of all these features, Ensafer is free of charge.
