Dragand For Mac

Finding subtitle files in different languages for each episode in a TV show can take a lot of time, especially if you are planning an evening of watching the whole series.

Dragand is a minimalist Mac OS X application designed to take care of this tedious task for you. Just drag and drop the video files on top of the app’s main window, and Dragand will go online and find subtitles in a language of your choice.

Dragand is able to get the job done with very little user interaction: the subtitle files are placed on your desktop, and you get to launch the video in your VLC player from within the app.

However, the utility does come with a couple of customization options. Via the Dragand Preferences window, you can change the default interface language, or the default language for the subtitle files.

You can toggle the visibility of the notification messages, and you can choose to automatically send the videos to your VLC player when dropping them on top of the Dragand app.

Within the app’s main window, you can see if the search and download process has been successful in each case, and open the IMDB web page associated with the episode, or actually start the video.

Unfortunately, during our test, when trying to send the videos to VLC directly from Dragand we have experienced some issues: the player couldn't open the files, and the Dragand app crashed. Everything worked fine when opening the files from the Finder.

On the other hand, if the search has been unsuccessful, you have no tweaking options: Dragand does not allow you to add more online sources for subtitles in the mix. In fact, you have no say on which online resources are to be used.
