Help you find and remove various files and applications you no longer need via a light, user-friendly and practical user interface. #Junk Cleaner #System Cleaner #App Uninstapper #Cleaner #Optimizer #Repair
CCleaner is a household name at this point, even though it never became quite as popular on Mac as it did on Windows. While the app has seen its fair share of criticism over the years, it's a good way to get rid of unnecessary files and software.
With CCleaner 2, we get a redesigned UI and a cool new feature that can help you get rid of bad photos in order to save on storage. It also comes with a bunch of other improvements and support for M1 processors.
This is the app's bread and butter, and it shows. To start with, you can scan your system for unnecessary files, which include application caches, logs, development junk, and downloads. It also highlights particularly large files and can detect duplicates.
CCleaner can analyze your installed browsers and remove cookies, cache files, and browsing data. Of course, you can do this from the browsers themselves, but it's a nice feature if you want to clean multiple browsers at once.
An interesting new tool allows you to thin out your photo library by deleting images that are not quite masterpieces. The app looks for photos that are blurry, poorly lit, or have poor contrast and suggests them for removal.
This feature also allows CCleaner to find similar photos that, while not identical, are probably not necessary. All these suggestions can be reviewed one by one before anything is deleted.
If you care about your privacy, which is likely as an Apple user, you should probably go to the app's preferences, under the Privacy tab, and disable data sharing with third-party analytics tools. While Piriform assures you that your information is anonymized, one can never be too sure.
Overall, CCleaner is still a reliable junk cleaner and app uninstaller, and it now also helps you deal with unmanageable photo collections. The new UI is somewhat more intuitive, and the automation features might be helpful for some users.
