Catch For Mac

If you are an avid movie fan, then you probably know by now that torrents represent one of the best ways to watch the latest movies or TV shows. Following the same idea, ShowRSS is a service that makes it possible for you to track your favorite TV shows.

You basically have to pick the TV shows that interest you from a list and ShowRSS will provide you with a feed that can be used to download them with the help of your torrent client.

Catch is a lightweight macOS app that lives in the status bar and automatically “catches” any new torrent files from your ShowRSS feed. In plain words, Catch will download the new torrent files with your TV episodes to any location and also open them with your system’s default torrent downloader.

Not only this, but Catch uses macOS' Notification Center notifications to alert your each time it picks-up a new TV show feed, and it also enables you to organize your torrents in specific folders.

What’s more, within its Preferences menu, Catch can be effortlessly set up to only check your ShowRSS feed within a specific period of your choosing.

Evidently, in order to use Catch, you will first need to have a valid ShowRSS account. Use your default web browser to create or log in to your account and select your favorite TV shows from the list, access the Feeds Page, and click the “Generate” button.

Next, you will have to select the “disable magnets” and “use namespaces” checkboxes and copy the generated link to your Mac’s clipboard.

All that’s left for you to do now is to click on Catch’s menu bar item, open its Preferences menu and within the Feed tab, and paste the URL into the “Feed URL” field. For more details, you should take a look at Catch’s GitHub configuration page.

Optionally, you can now set up your torrent downloader to work hand in hand with Catch so that your TV shows will be automatically downloaded as soon as the app “catches” them.

At the end of the day, when you come home tired, it’s a very good feeling to find the torrent files with your latest TV show episodes either organized within a folder and ready to be used, or already downloaded onto your Mac’s hard-drive thanks to Catch.
