CNRI Handle Extension for Firefox 2.4.0

The CNRI Handle Extension shows you how you can open handle URIs like hdl:4263537/4000 or doi:10.1000/1 by using the native Handle System protocol.

The CNRI Handle Extension extension will even replace the references to the web-to-handle proxy servers that have a native resolution.

The CNRI Handle Extension add-on is cross-platform and it works on Windows, Linux and Mac OS.

· Recent developments with Firefox and the Java plugin have made a Java-based Firefox extension very difficult to maintain. This version of the CNRI Handle Extension no longer uses Java. Handle resolution is not performed using the native handle protocol, but via HTTP-to-handle proxies. Nonetheless, most users should expect significantly improved performance from the extension.
