Box SimpleShare For Mac

Box SimpleShare is the official cross-platform desktop client for the Box online file storage and sharing service. Box is a highly intuitive web application which enables you to store up to 5 GB of data for free and share it with anyone.

With Box SimpleShare, you can take a screenshot of the whole screen, window or region as well as to capture screencasts and upload them to your Box account. You can upload any file / folder by dragging and dropping them to the Box SimpleShare menu bar icon.

After uploading a file, its Box URL will automatically be copied to your copied, an option which can also be disabled from the Preferences.

Box SimpleShare’s menu bar item provides a menu to view / access the upload history and the available commands. What’s great is that you can go directly to a file’s link in your default browser by clicking on the items in the history.

Another feature is the ability to automatically upload snapshots to Box after creating them using the menu bar commands or their respective global hotkeys.

To capture a part of your screen, use Cmd + Shift + 4, to capture the whole window, use Cmd + Shift + 3 and to capture video use Cmd + Shift + 5. These commands are actually OS X’s integrated hotkeys for screen capturing and you can change them by going to System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts.

You can use the Cmd + Shift + U hotkey (by default) to upload a selected file. However, this hotkey can be customized from the Preferences window.

If you don’t want snapshots to be automatically uploaded to Box, you can disable this option from the preferences as well. Moreover, some other options can be toggled, such as deleting screenshots after upload or deleting other types of files after upload.

The default video format for the screencasts can be selected from the Preferences as well. Three file types are available: FLV, MP4 and AVI.
