Beaker Browser is an open source project that aims to decentralize the way content is made available online. The browser relies on the peer to peer technology and uses the experimental Dat protocol.

The Beaker Browser application resembles most of the other web browsers available on various platforms. You get to navigate to any website effortlessly, keep multiple pages open by using tabs, mark pages as favorites, manage downloads, or log your browsing history.

Beaker Browser is using DuckDuckGo as the default search engine, and you get to run queries by simply typing the keywords in the address bar.

Beaker Browser sports going back and forward buttons, includes support for universal hotkeys, such as the one accepted for reloading the page, and so on.

Each time you open a new tab, Beaker Browser launches the Settings panel where you get to see the list of favorite websites, navigate the browsing history, or view the list of downloaded files.

The same area enables you to take advantage of the Dat protocol and create archives that can be accessed by other apps that also support the protocol (just provide them with the respective link).

The Beaker Browser app allows you to create as many Dat projects as you like and enables you to include a small description.

The next step is to decide which files are to be included in your Dat archive: you can add files or entire folders with a drag and drop, or you can go through the Finder menu.

To sum up, Beaker Browser is a simple web browser that integrates innovative technologies to help you create and manage peer to peer transfers without leaving the app.

As a result, Beaker Browser can be used to host web pages directly on your web browser: just create a Dat archive that includes all the project’s files and folders.
