Voila For Mac

There is a vast number of image editors developed for Mac OS X, with various degrees of complexity. Voila is yet another such application that aims at combining basic yet efficient tools in a stylish user interface, in order to provide a complete experience.

The Voila functionalities are organized around three concepts: image capture, editing pictures and exporting the results. To deal with the first task, Voila places a menu in your status bar in order to offer quick access to the photo capturing tools. For your convenience, most options also have keyboard shortcuts assigned.

The same area also allows you to access the Voila main window where you can create your own images library, make use of the basic editing tools (pencil, paint, spay, text, shape, arrow, callout, line, stamp, blur, eraser, or marquee), or apply various effects to your photos.

Voila is able to deal with all the basic capturing tasks (fullscreen or object, image or video), but also comes with a couple of interesting additions: the capture selection can have different shapes (rectangle, circle, polygon, or freehand), you can highlight menus, or snap entire websites (not only the part visible on your screen). Of course, Voila can also make use of your built-in iSight camera.

Voila offers you the possibility to export the results to your iPhoto application, send them by email, share them with friends via Messages, or publish the photos on one of your social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, and Vimeo are supported). Naturally, you can also send the ppictures directly to your printer.

Voila comes with a beautiful user interface and is providing quite common sharing options on top of  the basic image editing tools. However, the fact that you can make custom selections for capturing only specific areas of your screen without being bound to a rectangular shape, and the possibility to capture entire websites are above average screenshot capturing options.
