The Vectorworks Viewer app can be used to open Vectorworks projects that have been created with the help of different versions of the CAD suite, going from Vectorworks 9 to Vectorworks 2015: simply use the Open menu, or drag and drop the project file on top of the Vectorworks Viewer Dock icon.

Within the Vectorworks Viewer main window you will be able to just visualize and navigate the content of the VWX files: there are no available editing options, even though you can move objects around.

However, you will be able to switch the rendition mode (from 2D to 3D, and back), the point of view, the active layer, and so on. Vectorworks Viewer enables you to analyze any object included in the project: you are able to see details about its shape, thickness, material, position, and so on.
