SplitMyFiles For Mac

Working with folders that contain a large number of files, such as the ones generated by high definition cameras, can be quite challenging. SplitMyFiles is a small Mac app designed to help you streamline the entire process.

SplitMyFiles has two main capabilities: it can separate the files included in a folder by type or it can sync two folders together. The actions are performed via separate windows, which have a simple and organized design.

To launch the splitting process, simply drag and drop the folder you want to process on top of the Split window. SplitMyFiles will scan the folder content and when you press the “Split” button, it will generate separate folders for each file type. The app will also move the files to their respective folders.

If you want to sync two folders, you must drag and drop the original directory in the left panel of the SplitMyFiles Sync window. At the same time, you must drop the folder that needs to be cleaned on top of the right sided panel.

Take into account that you can also choose to only move the files and not completely delete them (SplitMyFiles will create a new directory called “Deleted” and will move the files there.).

To sum up, SplitMyFiles is a small utility that can prove useful if you need to split the contents of a folder by file extension or if you need to synchronize two directories.
