Sight Control is a minimalist status bar menu application that offers you the possibility to control various settings when dealing with your built in camera. Take into account that Sight Control is a companion application and you must also have running a webcam application such as Photo Booth or Skype to take advantage of its capabilities.
The tool will stay out of your way in the status bar and you can easily access the customization panel via its menu. In the Sight Control Panel you can view the detected camera, adjust various settings and then save them as a preset. This way, you can use the setup again at a later time and perform multiple modifications with a single mouse click.
Sight Control allows you to modify only the auto exposure mode: you can change the exposure time, the Aperture, the brightness / contrast / hue / saturation / sharpness / gamma / noise reduction level or you can modify the white balance temperature.
Other options include enabling the backlight compensation and altering the power line frequency (auto, disabled, 50Hz or 60 Hz). Moreover, you can adapt the reading and writing frequency for the webcam settings. Since the effects are applied to the image in real time, the requirement for any post processing is eliminated.
Sight Control is able to work with a wide collection of applications that make use of your webcam, such as Skype, FaceTime, iChat, Messages, Photo Booth, iMovie, QuickTime Player/QuickTime Player 7, iStopMotion, BoinxTV, Wirecast, Sparkbooth, GoToMeeting, WebEx, Jabber, Adobe Connect or any other Flash based app.
To sum up, Sight Control is great if you are looking for a tools to customize the image captured by your camera, but take into account that the application works only with a built-in webcam.
