Resizing images to generate thumbnails can lead to quality loss: SharpResize is a small application that will help you create picture previews of various sizes while trying to keep the best quality possible.

SharpResize comes with a very simple user interface and has a fairly intuitive workflow: you can import images by dropping them on top of the app’s main window or you can use the “Open” button placed on the top toolbar. At the same time, you can add images from your pasteboard by pressing the “From Clip” button.

The SharpResize main window in separated in two main areas: on top you can preview the image while on the bottom you can customize the output image size and quality. SharpResize allows you to change the  picture width and height, but if you check the “Constrain” box, the app will preserve the image proportions.

Other personalization options include the possibility to adjust the image quality and the sharpening level for the output file.  SharpResize is using the Lanczos resampling method while the sharpening tool applies a luminance filter designed to enhance the image contrast. As a result, the resulting image will have a very high quality.

Last but not least, SharpResize offers you the possibility to view the source image in its actual size. To streamline the entire process, SharpResize provides a simple keyboard shortcut that grabs the image, launches the resizing process using the current settings and opens the save dialog: Control + Shift + S.

To conclude, SharpResize provides a simple solution for quickly resizing and processing images in order to generate high quality thumbnails for different projects.
