Whether you’re a photographer, designer, or anyone else working with large image albums, processing them as efficiently as possible requires adequate software specially made for the job.
Pixillion was intended for batch image conversion, enabling you to modify all your images in one go, with the option to also make some simple edits along the way. It has a fair number of features, but it’s somewhat outdated and cumbersome.
Primarily made for batch conversion, the app allows you to load all your images at once, with support for drag and drop. You can preview them in the main window and select the desired output format and settings.
This part is pretty straightforward, but Pixillion also includes some additional functionality aimed at letting you modify images in various ways. These features are rather more difficult to use, which isn’t helped by the outdated user interface.
To make any type of modification, you need to bring up the Effects panel, where active editing functions will be listed one after the other. You can resize, crop, flip, rotate, or watermark your images, as well as add stylistic effects that correct or enhance the photos.
These tools can be somewhat unintuitive at times, such as the crop function that doesn’t come with a selection box to let you define the crop area more easily. Others are more user-friendly, but the UI doesn’t make them as accessible as they could be.
While it can do quite a few things, and the app can be used for free, a few of the functions visible in the toolbar and context menu aren’t actually built-in. Once clicked, they require you to download and install a separate app from the same developer, which can be confusing for a first-time user.
Pixillion works well as a batch image converter, with its editing functionality not quite at the same level. The UI could also use an upgrade, both in terms of aesthetics and accessibility.
