Phocus is a user-friendly macOS application that promises to provide professional as well as amateur photographers a well thought out and intuitive workflow designed to improve the overall productivity.

The Phocus app comes with an intuitive and attractive working environment from within which you can easily handle even the largest pictures. Thanks to Phocus you can make the most out of your medium format or DSLR camera and achieve new levels of image quality and precision.

From Phocus’ main window, you can easily control your digital camera and capture images with just a few mouse clicks.

With the help of Phocus you can configure your camera and adjust the ISO, shutter, EV, aperture, exposure and focus values. Moreover, Phocus also comes with a Capture Sequencer, Live video along with scene calibration and reproduction tools.

Phocus features an advanced Moiré removal tool as well as highlight recovery, shadow fill, clarity and dust spot removal tools. You can even configure your workflow and save, export, or import your image adjustments, keywords, and workflow settings.

You can import a wide variety of RAW file formats along with non-RAW formats such as JPEG, TIFF, DNG and other similar formats. In fact, you can import RAW photos from over 150 different camera models from Canon, Nikon, Sony, Leica, Olympus, Fuji and more.

Phocus uses the Hasselblad Natural Color Solution (HNCS) and Digital Auto Correction (DAC) in order to ensure the ultimate image quality and enhance the picture resolution. The Moiré removal tool helps you remove the annoying effect even from high-resolution images.

As mentioned earlier, you can easily take control over your camera and use various remote functions such as live view, remote focusing, aperture and exposure time controls.

On top of that, Phocus's Adjust tab enables you to further fine tune your pictures and adjust the contrast, brightness and sharpness. Using the same panel you can also correct colors, apply filters, remove noise, perform lens and scene calibration, crop and export your photos.

What's new in Phocus 3.2:

  • ProRes export:
  • In addition to CinemaDNG it is now possible to export raw video as ProRes. Unlike CinemaDNG which is a raw format - ProRes exports will actually reflect adjustments made in Phocus and also take advantage of lens corrections and the HNCS color handling. In other words - the image processing of each frame of a ProRes export is basically the same that you would get when exporting still images.
  • When viewing 3FV files you will now find an Adjustment mode check box in the upper left corner. In order to view the effect of adjustments on raw video you will need to enable this adjustment mode. When not in adjustment mode you will just see the preview video that the camera has embedded in the 3FV. This non-adjustment mode can still be useful as it will provide faster navigation and playback and specifically if you only intent to export CinemaDNG there will be no reason to enable adjustment mode. Note that the mode can also be switched via the command in the View menu and its associated keyboard short cut cmd-alt-A.
  • It should be noted that adjustment settings are global for the full clip no matter which frame was shown when the adjustment was edited.
