Footnotes2Endnotes is a free Adobe InDesign script that will help automatically convert all footnotes to endnotes and place them at the end of each story.
Footnotes2Endnotes allows the selection of two character styles; one will be applied to the footnote references in the text, and the other will be applied to the footnote references in the endnotes.
The character styles will need to be created before running the Footnotes2Endnotes script.
Installation: Open the "Scripts" panel in InDesign, select the "User" folder, select "Reveal in Finder" from the drop-down menu on the top right side. Copy the Footnotes2Endnotes script to the "Scripts Panel" folder in the opened window.

What's new in Footnotes2Endnotes 2.3:
- Minor tweak to fix the "script does nothing/does not work" complaints.
- The script now checks earlier for the existence of footnotes in the document; this avoids showing the Character Styles selection dialog if there are no footnotes.
- Moved the "Done!" alert to the right place: after all stories instead of after each story.
- Added a progress bar. (CS3 and above only)
