editor's review

ColorMagic is simple yet very powerful image editor designed to help you colorize black and white photos, or refresh the color of old pictures. The app is a great tool if you want to process old photos that have been digitized.

To be able to take advantage of what the app has to offer, you must first register for a trial license, within the application. To accomplish this, a working email address is required: the ColorMagic developers will send a trial license key to your email account almost instantly.

Streamlined and intuitive photo editor

The ColorMagic main window is very large and will most likely cover your entire screen. Note that opening the application might take a while, depending on the resources you have at your disposal, since ColorMagic must load various types of color libraries.

The good news is that ColorMagic user interface is organized in a fairly familiar manner: the main area is reserved for the canvas, on the left you can view the color picker and libraries, while toolbars displayed on the sides contain basic image editing tools.

Take advantage of the large color libraries collection

ColorMagic comes with a color picker that enables you select the color of your choice, but, for your convenience, also includes a plethora of predefined shades. In addition, the gradient pen tool can be used to achieve a smoother color transfer.

The color templates are organized into categories (hair, lips, eyes, different types of skin tones, sky, clouds, ground, grass, leaves, water, bricks, glass, wood, stones, and many others), so you should be able to find suitable colors for your tasks in not time.

Smooth-running photo editor that provides support for colorizing black and white, or old images

ColorMagic comes with basic image editing tools, but also includes large color libraries that will prove very useful if you need to colorize images. Since the various color shades or tones are already defined and easily accessible, you will not have to waste time finding them with a color picker.
