AutoCAD WS is the desktop counterpart of the AutoCAD 360 mobile and the AutoCAD 360 web app that provide quick access to the AutoCAD 360 service offered by Autodesk.
To start using the AutoCAD WS app you must create a AutoCAD 360 account free of charge and then login with your credentials (comes with 5GB storage space). Note that you can link your AutoCAD 360 account to other cloud service providers, such as Dropbox, Box, Autodesk Buzzsaw or Egnyte.
As a result, all the DXF and DWG files edited using AutoCAD WS will be stored on your account and you will be able to access them from other devices (make sure you press the Sync button beforehand).
AutoCAD WS’s features are divided in two categories: the ones that help you manage your project files and sync them to your AutoCAD 360 account and the ones related to computer aided design.
Each time you open a new project in AutoCAD WS, the app automatically uploads the file to the AutoCAD 360 servers, which translates into waiting time. However, there are certain perks: you can share them with other users within the app. In addition, a certain project cannot be deleted if you are working on it.
The AutoCAD WS editing area provides basic tools for both browsing and customizing your CAD projects. You get to adjust the plot and paper size, the layout style, draw new content and more. Since you can save the results locally, AutoCAD WS can also be used without an Internet connection.
AutoCAD WS is great if you want to take advantage of the AutoCAD 360 service without having to go through a web browser. You can use it to simply view CAD projects, but also proves useful if you want to access the data on different devices or share it with your co-workers.
