Amazing Effects For Mac

Modifying an image using a computer implies a lot of things, but the easiest manner to do that and the less time consuming process is to apply an image effect that drastically changes the way your photo looks.

Amazing Effects is a lightweight and easy to use OS X utility that promises to make it very simple to apply a large variety of image filters on any picture on your Mac’s hard drive.

The Amazing Effects app comes with a clean looking, yet quite outdated user interface, which, although making quite effortless to browse the collection of image effects and applying them onto your photos, will most probably give you an uneasy feeling because of the odd look of the buttons and the unusual way in which you have to select the filters.

Thus, in order to choose an effect, Amazing Effects will open a window containing all the filters in the selected category, organized in a grid like manner.

While testing it on our Macs, Amazing Effects managed to open all popular image formats we’ve thrown at it and, most importantly, it also allows us to work with CR2 and DNG RAW photos, a feat that other more powerful apps are not capable of.

Regarding the export options, once you’re done applying a filter, you can export the resulting image as a JPEG, PNG, BMP, GIF or TIFF picture, depending on what you intend to do with it afterwards and on the level of quality you want.

Unfortunately, in spite of the fact that Amazing Effects comes with quite a large collection of over 130 filters, most of them aren’t very useful since they are not of very much value because of their ordinary look and limited possible uses. Another downside is the fact that you cannot resize the app's window in any way, therefore you will have to use it as it is.

To sum it all up, albeit being very easy to use and featuring a wide array of image filters, Amazing Effects does not deliver enough high quality image effects to justify its price.
