Thanks to 123D Make you can easily convert any 3D STL or OBJ file into a cut pattern based on the desired material and the size of the physical 3D sculpture you want to build. From 123D Make’s main window you can easily create new 3D models, open an existing one or load one of the provided example shapes.
The 123D Make Menu also enables you to save a copy of your work or export the mesh to a STL or OBJ file. In addition, you can 3D print your model by using Autodesk 3D Print Utility to prepare and print it.
123D Make offers different types of construction techniques, ranging from stacked slices and interlocked slices to folded panels. What is more, the interlocked slices can be easily defined along a curve or radially around an axis. Folded panels can be assembled in different ways that include stitching, tab and slot, and more.
By accessing the Manufacturing Settings tab, you can define the size of your final real-world creation, choose the unit measurement system and type in the height, width and length of the model. After choosing the desired construction technique you can select a slice distribution and check the Model Issues panel in order to view if there are any problems or errors with your model.
Moreover, 123D Make offers easy-to-follow assembly steps that can help you build your real world model. You can also check the 2D plans of the model and export them to a location of your choice with just a few mouse clicks.
To sum up, 123D Make is an easy-to-use application that can help you take your designs from the virtual world and make them real.
