Sudoku is a popular puzzle game in which you need to complete a 9x9 grid with numbers so that each column, row and sub-grid contains all the digits from 1 to 9. As simple as it may sound to someone who has never tried it, it is, of course, anything but easy.
This particular app brings the classic version of the game to your Mac, with a few small additions.
The playing surface is well designed, and the application window does not take up a lot of screen space. You can move it to a corner on your desktop and play while also performing other tasks.
However, it would have been great if more variations were available, as playing on the same board over and over again is bound to become tiring at some point.
Whenever you run out of ideas, you can have the game provide a hint that can help you progress further.
If you want to remember which digits can be entered in each cell, you can write notes that are displayed in the lower-left corner. When you have no need of them anymore, they can be cleared. You can also have the game display every possible solution for each cell.
A total of five difficulty levels are available, so that beginners and experienced players alike can have fun while also being tested. Alternatively, you have the option of clearing the board and designing your own puzzle.
In short, if you have already played Sudoku, you know what you can expect from this logic-based game. If you are thinking of trying it for the first time, however, this app is a good choice.
