When you think about MOBA (short for multiplayer online battle arena) games, your first thoughts most definitely go towards Dota 2 and League of Legends.

A very interesting alternative is provided by Strife, a MOBA in which you engage into an epic battle against the ancient evil forces of Dharkwave. Despite the fact that Strife features a similar gameplay style as other popular MOBAs today, it provides a more relaxed and beginner orientated gameplay style.

For starters, you have a smaller number of heroes available (only fourteen for now) and smaller maps when compared to other sought-after MOBAs.

This can be either a bad thing or a good thing depending how you look at it: it can prove to be a disadvantage when you are at a low level because it forces you to engage enemies that might be stronger than you, or an advantage if you are into intense close-quarter battles or within ambushes with solo kills in mind.

As expected, Strife’s gameplay revolves around the battle of two five-player teams which have to defend their own or destroy each others’ main structures.

Strife’s crafting feature enables you to customize core items like Strength, Health, and Mana, while its shared gold system makes it easy for you to stay focused on the battles at hand and not on finding resources.

Another interesting feature is the fact that Strife enables you to go into battle accompanied by faithful pets. You can switch pets in order to experiment different combinations as each and everyone of them comes with its own set of skills and is suited for different defense or attack situations.

Strife’s gameplay atmosphere is very interesting and engaging, the graphics are top notch with vivid colors and nice animation sequences, while the audio quality and characters’ voices are up there with the best games of the genre.

As an ending note, Strife is an interesting and engaging game to play, whether you are a MOBA fan or not. We liked how Strife takes the best parts of other more popular MOBAs while bringing certain distinct features, and, thus, striving for innovation in the genre.
