Pinochle for Mac
Pinochle is a classic card game in which you must play different tricks in order to gain points. The game is played with a 48 card deck by at least 3 persons. More people can play the game but they must set up partnerships.
The Pinochle app for the Mac OS X, enables you to play the game from the comfort of your desktop, against virtual players. However, this version of the game is using only the 9, 10, jacks, queens, kings and aces cards.
Pinochle is following the usual gameplay: before each hand the players must bid for the trump card. If they cannot match the bid at the end of the hand, they lose a significant number of points.
The next step is to meld cards together in order to get extra points. In the end, the remaining cards are played as tricks until the hand is done.
Noteworthy is that Pinochle allows you to adjust the game rules in order to match the ones you are familiar with: you can choose to play with single or double decks, you can setup the starting bidding value (10 / 15 / 20 / 25 / 40 / 45 / 50) and the AI bidding aggressiveness, toggle the meld bidding.
Other options include incrementing the bid by 5 after 60, toggling the 4 card kitty, adjusting the number of passing cards, setting up the minimum team trick points required to sore or disabling the sound effects.
You can also specify the triple pinocle worth, the value of an extra marriage with run worth or of an unmarried K or Q with run. Furthermore, you can specify is a bidder must meld trump marriage or not.
All in all, Pinochle gives you the possibility to play the classic card game with the same name from the comfort of your Mac and can be a very interesting pastime as long as you understand all the rules.
