Monochroma is a platformer game that uses cinematic designs to immerse you in a dark yet fascinating universe, that you must face while taking care of your little brother.

The goal is to put your problem-solving skills to the test by exploring your surroundings to find solutions to all sorts of situations.

Monochroma is based on a trial and error dynamic, so if anything goes wrong, you can start over from the most recent checkpoint.

The Monochroma sceneries are all black and white, with just a couple of objects colored in red. The game comes with a few sound effects, but most of the time the soundtrack is silent, so you get to immerse completely in the solving process.

If the Monochroma screen is too dark for you, you can adjust your desktop’s brightness level, or you can navigate to the game’s settings area, and make further adjustments from there. The same area allows you to change the game controls and the sound effects volume.

The Monochroma gameplay is quite simple: you can use the arrow keys to run, jump, or climb objects, and if you combine them with the “Control” key, you may also drag things around.

While running after your little brother, you both manage to fall through a building’s roof, so now you have to find your way out, while carrying your brother.

If you need to make more challenging jumps, you will have to put him down: the twist is that you can do so only in lighted areas, which makes everything even more complicated.

Given the quality of the included puzzles, the Monochroma game can prove to be quite addictive: you have to go over the same areas multiple times to see if you missed anything and try various solutions until you find the right one.

However, when you do manage to move on from a puzzle, the feeling is quite rewarding.
