If you have ever found yourself all alone, without any friends around, and wanting to play Scrabble, then good news for you: CrossBlocks is a fun and small OS X game that basically enables you to build words using similar rules as the more famous board game, Scrabble.

This said, it quickly becomes obvious that the goal here is to score as many points as possible, preferably using all the letters provided from the start. As with Scrabble, only one group of words are counted and, evidently, the awarded points are according to the value of each letter.

In case you have some nearby friends that share your passion for word-building games, CrossBlocks also makes it possible for you to play with them via the internet. In order to play with your friends, the process is quite straightforward: one player must create a host game and the other has to join.

For the sake of competition and later gloating, the game also saves all your scores to an online leaderboard, so you always know who is the worst (or the best) at building words.

All of this is, of course, possible if both you and your friend speak one of the two supported languages, namely English and Dutch. Regardless if you play solo or with a friend via the local network, you can choose from four game modes, namely, three or five round matches or 200 and 300-point endurance matches.
