Wiki For Mac

Wiki is a Wikipedia desktop client for Mac OS X that comes with various extra features that are not available when browsing Wikipedia with your normal browser. The app provides an article history, smart search function, full screen image viewer and more.

Designed as a browser to navigate Wikipedia only, the application features a top toolbar to access the slideshow viewer and the search box, a left pane to search through Wikipedia and access the article history, as well as the central area for reading articles.

Wiki enables you to search in multiple languages at once. The great part is that you can also select which languages to search via the Preferences window; a variety of languages are supported. As soon as you type a word, the app displays search results from all languages you have selected.

The other type of search function allows you to search within the article. Each sequence of letters that it has found are highlighted in yellow on the page, like in the Google Chrome browser. Other handy features include viewing the images in their full size from an overlay just by clicking on them.

In addition to this, the Wiki app provides you with a full-screen picture viewer that fetches all the images included in the article you are currently viewing. In its interface, you will be able to view all the image thumbnails on the left and click them to view them in full size.

To conclude, the application is not the most advanced Wikipedia client for OS X, but does offer quite a few new features that lack in most browsers. Searching and browsing articles is fast, and you might love the image viewing capabilities of this app, too.
