iPlayBook For Mac

iPlayBook is a Mac OS X application designed especially for basketball coaches and helps them design game strategies by drawing on a virtual field and moving player tokens. The app comes with different court models, offense formations and defense formations.

As soon as you launch iPlayBook for the first time, it will display a standard-looking user interface with the drawing court in the middle. Moreover, the upper toolbar provides access to the buttons to increase / decrease the line width, to pick the color and to clear the drawing.

Before you begin drawing on the court, you should open the palette that includes all the elements you can insert into the scheme: player tokens (from both your team and the opponent’s), the ball, felt tip pen, lines and arrows.

You are able to draw anywhere on the canvas and move the tokens to any spot using simple drag’n’drop operations. The color and width of the lines used when drawing can be changed and decreased / increased using the toolbar buttons.

As mentioned before, a variety of court models are available: HardWood, Full Court, BlackTop and more. Also, you can choose between multiple offense formations (hidden, basic, box, box inbound, etc) and defense formations (hidden, 2-3, 3-2, 1-2-2 and 1-3-1).

As far as settings are concerned, iPlayBook does not include many, besides the freedom to choose the color, line width, court and offense / defense formations. Nevertheless, you can select the default court and default formation for future schemes via the Preferences window.

To conclude, iPlayBook is not a revolutionary piece of software in terms of sports applications, but it comes with a simple workflow, a decent number of tools and numerous courts and player templates.
