Wiki Offline for Mac
Wiki Offline is designed to provide offline access to Wikipedia articles in a clean and organized environment. Still, an internet connection is required to download the database initially.
When you first launch the application you will view a panel with the available databases, their language and the creation date. There you must choose which database you want to use and download it to your Mac.
Even though the packages are thoroughly compressed, the transfer might take a while (you will see how much data has been downloaded so far and the estimated time left) but you have the possibility to pause and resume at a later time. Note that Wiki Offline comes with an image gallery function where you can browse the images included in an article.
Wiki Offline provides basic search capabilities that will help you find articles on different subjects, includes in page search functions and allows you to browse the article page in full screen mode. In addition, you can customize the font, the interface theme and the page margins to match your preferences.
Wiki Offline is able to display the article table of contents and enables you to set up bookmarks in order to find a certain entry faster. In addition, you can set up the app to automatically update each article if an internet connection is detected.
However, you can choose to quickly send an article to a browser window (a new tab is opened within the app) or follow links included in the text to make sure you have access to the latest data available. Wiki Offline can deal with entries written in different languages and you can enable specific language modules via in-app purchases.
All in all, Wiki Offline is a simple and organized application that allows you to browse Wikipedia articles in offline mode, set up bookmarks, follow links and more.
