Vocab For Mac

Vocab is an macOS app designed from the ground up to help you improve your vocabulary in multiple languages using various built-in vocabularies. The application also allows you to enter your own words pairs and vocabularies in any language.

The following dictionaries are included: English - Chinese / French / German / Italian / Polish / Portuguese and Spanish, each containing 500 words. In order to enter your own dictionary, you need to specify the source and target languages, as well as source files.

Another handy feature included in Vocab is the quiz, which can include up to 500 questions. You are given a word (in either language from the current dictionary) and you need to supply its translation.

Moreover, if your answer is incorrect, the app will show you the correct translation. Also, you can choose to repeat the wrong answers at the end of a quiz.

Words are organized by default into the following categories: all, newest, oldest, difficult, long, quizzed long time ago, rarely quizzed, never quizzed and without files. This type of sorting was designed to be logical and ultimately help you learn each word through practice, no matter how difficult they are.

Vocab features an intuitive and straightforward user interface comprised of a toolbar with access to the most common actions, such as Quiz, add / remove groups or words, Inspector, vocabulary menu and the Dictionary manager.

Several pieces of information can be added / viewed to each word entry, such as comment, associated file, last correct, date added and difficulty. This information can be edited directly from the main window or through the Inspector panel of each word.

Vocab also comes with a Preferences window, where you can configure several display options. The settings include choosing to ignore optional words in the Quiz, shake the quiz when giving the wrong answer, or to show confirmation popup when deleting words or groups.
