Practice tool that helps you learn words in various languages via a personalized vocabulary, smart flashcard quizzes, and helpful statistics. #Learn Language #Improve Vocabulary #Learn Word #Language #Vocabulary #Learn
There are so many apps out there for learning new languages, such as Duolingo, but they give you a limited amount of control over the content. You may end up going through unnecessary courses just to advance, and thus waste a lot of time in the process.
Wokabulary is a language app built around giving users complete control over what they want to study. You add words you’re having problems with, or words that you want to learn, and then steadily track your progress via quizzes and statistics.
As I’ve mentioned, Wokabulary starts with no content. You’ll need to pick your native language and the one you want to work on, and then start adding words one by one. Of course, this makes it less of a language course and more of a practice tool for particular words that are giving you problems.
Each word will have its translation, associated tags, comments, and difficulty level. This way, you can organize them by type and difficulty, as well as add any notes that may be of interest. A search function is also available for finding specific items.
Once you’ve added enough words, you can start a quiz at any time. These can include your entire vocabulary or just specific words, filtered by difficulty or tags. Flashcard quizzes just require you to remember the words, while typing quizzes involve writing them down as well.
When you get a question right, the word is moved to a higher difficulty level until it is marked as learned. Words will be shown more often at lower levels, and very rarely once they have been learned. If you use a custom filter, this automatic sorting method will be ignored.
Statistics show you how many words you have learned over a certain period of time, and they’re a welcome confidence boost if you feel like you’re not making enough progress.
Instead of replacing something like Duolingo or a classic language course, Wokabulary can complement it, allowing you to practice specific words while learning a new language. It’s easy to work with and customizable, but while a free version is available, the 60-word limit will make the Pro upgrade necessary if you’re planning on using the app in the long term.
What's new in Wokabulary 6.5.0:
- We have improved the tag management, so you can now have your tags sorted by date, frequency, or name.
- Also new in this update:
- A new setting let you use a uniform blur for the flash card quiz answers, so the length does not give any hints on the answer
