EndNote is an online search tool-it provides a simple way to search online bibliographic databases and retrieve the references directly into EndNote. (EndNote can also import data files saved from a variety of online services, CD-ROMs, and library databases.)
EndNote is a reference and figure database-it specializes in storing, managing, and searching for bibliographic references in your private reference library. You can organize figures-including charts, tables, pictures, and equations-and assign each figure its own caption and keywords.
EndNote is a bibliography and manuscript maker-it formats citations, figures, and tables in Microsoft Word with the Cite While You Write feature. The application enables you to watch the reference and table lists grow as you insert citations in your manuscript and also allows you to add a figure. Microsoft Word templates guide you through the exacting manuscript requirements of publishers.
Here are some key features of "EndNote":
· Use Groups to view and manage subsets of references in your library. Create up to 500 custom Groups per EndNote library.
· Display multiple author names for each reference in the library reference list.
· Use the Display Fonts preference to select your choice of font and size to display the Library window, General text that you enter, Search text, and Field labels.
· Export your custom Reference Type table to easily share it with another EndNote user.
· Spell check a single reference or your entire library with the Mac OS spell checker. Easily convert older custom dictionaries to the Mac OS spell checker format with the provided Dictionary Converter.
· Scan and format Open Office documents as well as RTF files with the Format Paper command.
· Use AppleScript to automate repetitive tasks.
Limitations:
· The EndNote 30-day trial is fully-functional and includes documentation to get you started. You will have 30 days after you first use the program to evaluate EndNote and all its features. After the evaluation period has expired, the program will revert to a feature-restricted EndNote Viewer.

· EndNote X2 libraries are not backwards compatible with EndNote 7 or lower. When opening a library from EndNote 5, 6, or 7, EndNote X2 will convert the library to the current format and leave the original library unchanged. EndNote X2 libraries consist of both an .enl file and a .DATA folder that must be kept together when sharing libraries.
· EndNote X2 users who have the language sort set to Korean may lose their database sort settings when opening EndNote X2 libraries with EndNote 8, 9, X, X1. Sort settings will likely default to the first item in the sort list - "System Default" or "English".
· An online version of the EndNote Manual is provided with this installation as a "PDF" file. To open and read the EndNote Manual PDF file you need Adobe System's Acrobat Reader 4.0 or later on your computer. If you do not already have Acrobat Reader, you may download it without charge from Adobe's site: http://www.adobe.com/prodindex/acrobat/readstep.html
· The EndNote Help file is available from the "Help" menu. Many dialogs also include context-sensitive help from a "Help" button. The Help file is provided in HTML format and requires an Internet connection to open hotlinks.
