Axel is a very interesting tool, an algebraic geometric modeler, which aim is to provide "algebraic modeling" tools for the manipulation and computation with implicit and parametric curves or surfaces.

In order to provide new modeling techniques, Axel's primary goal is to embed Synaps algebraic features.

Here are some key features of "Axel":

· Topology: compute the certified topology of curves and surfaces with either implicit or parametric representation
· Intersections: compute the intersection of implicit or parametric curves or surfaces
· Self-intersections : compute the self-intersections of parametric surfaces whatever their parameterization
· Singularities: compute the singularities of algebraic surfaces
· Differential modeling: derivative curves, graphed surfaces
· Set theoretic modeling: boolean operations, arrangements

· Notes: Release 0.4. Still beta version but more and more useable. Some work on the user interface is still required to make the software more intuitive. The documentation is coming, axel's website is quite ready (http://axel.inria.fr). Algorithms are constantly added or improved.
