LaCie Network Assistant is a companion application for the LaCie network attached storage devices and can be used to connect to and configure them from your Mac.
The app resides in the status bar so its out of your way, and can be used to power up remote LaCie storage devices connected to your LAN in no time.
The LaCie storage devices can be connected to your network using Ethernet cables, or you can plug them directly into your Mac via USB. Make sure that the storage devices are also attached to an AC source, and then use the LaCie Network Assistant to configure them.
The app comes with a status bar menu, but if you open its main window, you will be able to see details about the currently connected LaCie network disks.
You get to configure each NAS manually or let the assistant to automatically detect the IP address, the subnet mask, or the gateway, DNS, or WINS addresses.
The LaCie Network Assistant app can be used to power up a remote LaCie device connected to your network by using the “Wake Up” function via the app’s status bar menu. Simply input the device MAC address, and the app takes care of the rest.
The same menu enables you to activate the Recovery Mode that can help you troubleshoot LaCie network disks that are not responding or are experiencing other issues. Note that you might have to manually download the latest Recovery Mode update for the LaCie website.
To sum up, LaCie Network Assistant is a companion application for the LaCie network storage devices and can be used to both configure and get general information about the LaCie devices connected to your network or directly to your Mac.
