ZXing For Mac

ZXing is an open-source, Java-based 1D/2D barcode image processing library with support for multiple barcode formats and an Android barcode scanner client. It can be used in Java projects that require barcode scanning capabilities.

ZXing consists of the core image decoding library, JavaSE client code, an Android Barcode Scanner client, an Android integration module, the core Android-related code, as well as the code behind the web app implemented using this library.

It’s worth pointing out that the project is currently in maintenance mode, with updates coming only via contributed patches. The only changes to come in future releases will be bug fixes and minor enhancements. The Barcode Scanner app will not receive any more updates.

As it stands, this library is useful for developers who need to get started on the right track in adding barcode scanning capabilities to Java-based software. Some work will likely be required to adapt the code to future needs, and updates will be few and far between.
