    Java based library for reading and writing Tar files

    JTar is a lightweight, free and open-source Java library which offers a simple method to read and create Tar files with the help of IO streams.

    JTar's API is straightforward and easy-to-use and resembles to the one of the java.util.zip package.

    JTar is a cross-platform utility capable of running on any operating system that comes with Java support (e.g. Mac OS X, Windows, Linux).
