Sardine was designed with the aim of creating an easy-to-use Java client, and for this reason it does not implement the full webdav client specifications.

Instead, the development team's goal was to provide methods for most use case scenarios when working with a webdav server. The code needs to run as fast as possible and use the latest released Apache HttpComponents.

Sardine is useful for interacting with a webdav server and is much easier to programmatically manage remote files than with FTP.

Sardine uses JAXB to process XML responses from the webdav server. The generated code for this is based on the excellent webdav.xsd contained in the Apache Wink project.

System requirements

  • commons-logging.jar, commons-codec.jar and HttpClient/HttpCore 4.0.1 in your classpath
  • Java 5 or later
  • JAXB 2.1.x and its dependencies
