Jav8 is a free and open-source Java Scripting API that was built around the popular Javascript engine - Google V8 .

The JSR (Java Specification Request) 223 was designed to provide support for integrating Java technology and scripting languages by an API and a framework to:

· create web content
· access / control Java objects
· embed scripting environments in Java apps

Jav8 is cross-platform and it works on Mac OS X, Windows and Linux. Binaries for the Windows and Linux platforms are available on the project's homepage.
