Zoë is an open source and straightforward tool that makes it as easy as possible for you to generate JNSON and JSONP sprite-sheet images and frame data from SWF files.
In order to start working with Zoë you must install the latest version of Adobe Air on your Mac, as well as only use SWF files that have been compiled using Player 9 or greater and the language version AS3.
If these two conditions are met, you can start taking advantage of Zoë’s functions by simply dragging and dropping SWF files from the Finder onto its streamlined and simple user interface.
The Zoë app’s interface is represented by a top toolbar that enables you to browse and open SWF files, below it, another secondary toolbar that provides you with access to menus like Source, Settings, Animations, Export, while on the lower side, a simple preview panel.
After the SWFs have been loaded, you can easily preview SWF animations, and set the number of frames per second, as well as configure and calculate the image bound, all done within the Settings menu.
Before exporting your project and SWF files, with the help of the Export menu, you can set the number of frames, the sprite-sheet’s resolution, and choose the data type that defines your animation (JSON or JSONP) that can be later used in EaselJS.
In terms of customizability, Zoë doesn’t impress, but it does bundle a useful feature that enables you to change the workspace’s background color.
Taking all things into consideration, Zoë is an easy to use utility that makes converting SWF files into EaseJS-ready sprite-sheets a simple and fast process.
