OptiX 3.0.1

The free and cross-platform ray tracing framework to quickly build ray tracing applications on all major platforms (OS X, Windows, Linux)
OptiX is a free and programmable ray tracing framework that helps you to develop ray tracing apps faster than with any other standard method.

The OptiX engine is very general, in the sense that it enables software developers to execute any ray tracing task on any hardware they wish.

OptiX is cross-platform and it works on Mac OS X, Linux and Windows. Binaries for the Windows and Linux platform are available on the project's homepage.

Detailed instructions on how to use the OptiX utility on your Mac are available HERE.

The system requirements for running binaries referencing OptiX can be found HERE. (PDF)

  • Optimized all kernel launch times by approximately two ms.
  • Optimizations for certain recompilation cases.
  • Fixed ocean and collision samples to help them compile in the released SDK.
  • Fixed liboptix's Mac rpath to pick up the cudart lib which is installed alongside liboptix because cudart is not binary compatible between versions.
