NME is a free and open-source framework that was designed to enable development for iOS, Android, BlackBerry, webOS, Windows, Mac, Linux and Flash Player from a single codebase.
However, NME applications are not written in a low-level language (like C or C++), unlike most cross-platform frameworks, and does not require a virtual machine or runtime (like Java and Adobe AIR) in order to run on a target platform.
NME is cross-platform and it works on Mac OS X, Windows and Linux.
Detailed instructions on how to install and use the NME utility on your Mac are available HERE.
