IconKit is a slim and easy-to-use developer tool which enables you to quickly generate elegant icons for applications on different operating systems. It can generate 10 different icons for several operating systems with just a few clicks.

The application includes both a system bar icon where you can drag and drop your icons or icon folders (preferably of 1024 x 1024 resolution) and a main window for previewing the generated icons. Overall, working with IconKit is a breeze.

After dropping the files or folder onto the menu bar item, it automatically generates icons in created folders (named after the OS) located in the the same folder as the source folder.

What’s more, the main window allows you to preview the icons and view the exact sizes of the icons to be generated. Another advantage of working with the GUI is that you can select the output folder and other options.

In the process, IconKit rounds, glosses, resizes the picture and reduces @2x icons. Another great advantage is that the app can simultaneously generate all the supported types icons.

When clicking the export button, the following window that appears allows you to choose the export size: iOS 6, iOS 7, OS X high-res iconset (that requires Xcode) and Android. Two additional options to round iOS and iTunes Artwork icons and to draw glossy (for iOS 6) can be toggled.

To conclude, IconKit is an optimized icon generation tool for developers working on the OS X platform. It is designed as a @2x reducer, icon rounder, icon resizer and icon “glossy-er”. Another reason for buying IconKit is definitely the ease of use and the support for a wide range of formats and sizes.
