Datum is a streamlined and efficient OS X application that provides you with all the necessary tools for managing, editing, and organizing SQLite databases.

As you would expect from an SQLite database manager such as this, the user interface is not what you would call stylish, but it does manage to provide, what can be considered to be, an intuitive layout, especially for users which have experience working with SQL managers.

Datum’s probably most important interface element is its top toolbar that enables you to quickly attach, detach, refresh, verify, and clean databases, to switch between two view modes (list and thumbnail), and also to access the database encryption tool.

What’s more, under the top toolbar, you can find a Tables panel that displays all of the database’s elements and an editing panel which enables you to quickly browse, filter and edit your databases. Another plus is the fact that Datum makes it possible for you to work with multiple tabs and to open multiple queries at once.

This said, the software enables you to add or remove columns, modify constraint types, add triggers, indexes, views and tables with just a few mouse clicks.

Of course, Datum could have not been a full-featured database manager without bundling features like a syntax highlighting engine, a useful auto-complete function, comprehensive AES encryption, and support for the latest SQLite formats.

Last but not least, Datum makes it possible for you to import and export databases from and to a large variety of formats, namely XML, CVS, JSON, SQL, XLS.

While it’s hard to get excited about an SQLite manager due to its pragmatic nature, Datum could be the app you need if you are looking for a fast and powerful database manager that enables you to edit, manage, and view databases on a Mac.
