To replicate a certain color you need its code, regardless of the color format you are using. ColorSnapper is a minimalist status bar menu application that can be used to select certain pixels and determine their specific color code.

The ColorSnapper utility is extremely useful because you don’t have to waste time doing investigative work: all the information you need is one click away.

ColorSnapper usually stays out or your way, but you might need to access its status bar menu to view the previously selected colors.

However, most of the interaction with the app will be made through the loupe window that magnifies areas of your screen, allowing you to pick out the pixels. Once the selection process is over, ColorSnapper automatically places the color code on your clipboard.

The magnifying window is activated by a simple hotkey (Option + Command + C) which can be personalized via the Preferences window.

The same area allows you to choose one of the available formats for the clipboard: HEX (FFFFFF or 0xFFFFFF), RGB (255,255,255), HSL (255,100%,50%), CSS (#FFFFFF or #ffffff), CSS3 (rgbl, rgba, hsl or hsla), OSX NSColor (RGB or HSB calibrated) or iOS UIColor (RGB or HSB).

What’s more, ColorSnapper allows you to use primary and secondary color formats and provides a keyboard combination to quickly toggle between them.

From the Appearance panel you have the opportunity to adjust the default magnification level (you can change it in real time by using the Command + or Command - hotkeys) and select the text overlay format.

Other noteworthy features include the fact that it can work with multiple displays and that is able to send alerts to the Notifications Center for each sampled color.
