CodePaster is a simple, free and open-source text formatter and syntax highlighter written in Java.

CodePaster aims to offer a simple way to paste code in e-mails, internet forums, social networks, etc. without losing the indentation.

CodePaster will format your source code and text strings by adding line numbers and dots to the beginning of each line.

CodePaster is a cross-platform utility capable of running on any operating system that comes with Java support (e.g. Mac OS X, Windows, Linux).

Main features:

  • UTF-8 / Windows-1252 character encoding
  • Line numbers
  • Replaces spaces at the start of the lines for dots to keep the indentation
  • Unformats the code that was formatted with CodePaster to remove dots and line numbers
  • Auto-indentation for brackets {}
  • Reads text from files
