To make sure your app icons look good in any situation, you must create asset collections containing icons of all standard sizes, regardless if you are developing for Apple Watch, OS X, or iOS.

AssetCreator is a small but highly efficient utility that can generate these assets on its own: all you have to do is provide the source image. However, the app does not include any customization options for the generated icons, such as toggling the shadow visibility, adding rounded corners, and so on.

The AssetCreator user interface is represented by a single window on top of which you must drag and drop the source image. The app allows you to preview the original picture and enables you to choose what type of assets you want to generate.

The output icons can follow the standards defined for Apple Watch, iPad, iPhone, or Mac applications. You can choose to combine them into a single catalog, or to reveal the output folder in the Finder.

All you have to do next is press the “Generate assets” button and choose the output location. AssetCreator will both generate the icons and folders to keep them organized. As a result, the appropriate folders can be directly imported into your Xcode project.

AssetCreator is a great tool to have around if you want to avoid dealing with repetitive tasks such as making icon files of different sizes for your software projects.

On the bad side, the app does not offer you the possibility to personalize the output icons in any way: you don't have the option to add rounded corners, icon shadows, image effects, and so on.
