Using StuffIt Archive Manager, you can compress and expand your music, images, documents or movies to StuffIt X or Zip archives with no quality loss.
In order to secure your data efficiently, the application uses the AES 256-bit encryption algorithm for ZIP archives as well as 512-bit encryption for SITX files.
StuffIt Archive Manager is able to shrink your JPEGs, MP3s or PDFs to up to 98% of their original size, thus helping you free up precious space on your Mac’s hard drive.
Using StuffIt Archive Manager’s efficient compressing algorithms, you can also fit more data into your CDs, DVDs or Flash drives.
Furthermore, StuffIt Archive Manager features an intuitive window where you can easily browse archive content without decompressing the archive. This way, you can easily browse StuffIt, RAR, TAR, ZIP or other archives just like any folder.
From the left pane, you can browse your standard and custom collections of compressed files. The middle pane is designed for browsing the contents of archives and viewing details (such as path, creation date or last modified) of each selected archive.
Another important feature is the ability to keep the integrity of your data by automatically repairing archives.
Additionally, the StuffIt Scheduler can easily backup your files and folders at given intervals. Using the automatic backup tool, you can safely go about your business and let the app copy your files to a safe location.
Some other bonus features include the ability to preview archives using OS X’s built-in Quicklook tool and to add StuffIt to Automator workflows.
