VPN Shield 2.3
A lightweight and reliable Mac OS X utility that protects your online privacy by warning you about using suspicious internet connections
Although the VPN Shield client is free, you must purchase a subscription in order to connect to the VPN Shield service or activate a 1-day free trial. The following paid subscriptions are available: 7-day, 30-day, 90-day or 1 year. However, you are also allowed to enter the connection credentials to a VPN service you are already use.
As you may know already, VPN technology helps your computer keep online threats at bay by connecting it to a secure virtual network, which it is almost impenetrable by hackers or even the government. Connecting to a VPN assures that the connection between your computer and a website is secure.
Furthermore, the VPN Shield service uses various servers from three continents in the following countries: USA, Hong Kong, United Kingdom, Germany, and Netherlands. The networks are controlled and maintained by STIDIA, a Luxembourg-based network security company.
Another great feature is the ability to automatically connect to the VPN immediately after detecting an unprotected Wi-Fi network connection. A menu bar panel helps you connect to a Wi-Fi network as well as a VPN network from any supported country, or open the app preferences.
Taking everything into consideration, it is safe to say that VPN Shield is a great alternative if you need a reliable and trustworthy virtual private network solution. Moreover, it also offers support for entering your own VPN settings and operating the app could not be easier.
