Highlighter For Mac

Following the cursor while making presentations on large screens can prove rather difficult given its small size. Similarly, the same issue comes up while watching pre-recorded tutorials.

Highlighter is a small utility that helps you deal with the issue by having a circle around the pointer at all time. Its size and color can be customized, and it will automatically change color when you click with our mouse.

Upon launch, Highlighter places a small window controller bar in the left size of your screen: the bar has no real use, but if you choose to close it the app will quit. To take it out of your way, just use the minimize button to send it the to Dock.

Worth mentioning is that Highlighter can work on a second display connected to your Mac, but keep in mind that all displays have to be at the same level, the second display has to be setup before launching the application, and the Dock has to be set at the bottom of the main screen.

Via the Highlighter Preferences you get to adjust the size of the circle that will encompass your cursor and change its color (the default setting is blue). Note that when you click your mouse, the circle will become red to help the audience identify the action.

Within the Highlighter Preferences, you can also choose to turn the circle off after you click your mouse: to activate it again, you need to relaunch the application. You can also toggle its visibility by using the Control + Shift (on) or Option + Shift (off) hotkeys.

To sum up, Highlighter delivers a simple solution for making sure your audience is aware of the actions you perform on the screen using your mouse.

Nonetheless, the Highlighter customization options are quite limited, and the circle tends to stay behind for a couple of seconds after a mouse click.
