Complex yet easy to use app designed to help you focus on the task at hand, to avoid distractions and to take well-timed breaks to stay productive. #Avoid distraction #Break reminder #Pomodoro timer #Anti-procrastination #Break #Focus
Depending on your ability to fight procrastination, you may or may not need an application to help you stay focused on a particular task, and to avoid getting distracted by social networks websites, by your friends or an unexpected e-mail that just arrived in your inbox.
To help you stay motivated and focused throughout your work day, you can install FindFocus, a multi-faceted anti-procrastination macOS utility created from the ground up with a single purpose in mind: to give you all the tools you require to get your work done.
Even though FindFocus might seem intimidating at first sight, as its user interface features a multitude of tabs, each of them designed to add a different tool in your anti-procrastination arsenal, using it is actually quite straightforward.
The best way to get an understanding of what it is capable of is to go through the video tutorials available on the FindFocus Video Tutorials web page, but we'll also give you a quick rundown below if you're in a hurry.
First things first, you need to create a new focus profile via the Profiles tab, which will allow you to design custom website and application blocking configurations that suit specific tasks.
While creating profiles, you can also define the amount of protection each focus mode profile you create comes with, from no protection whatsoever to entering a text to stop or pause the profile.
If you want to go even further, you can also enable the Fort Knox protection mode for any of your profiles which will prevent you from disabling focus mode while they are enabled.
The profiles you create can later be used in the Sequences module to design intricate focus schemes and, afterward, included within custom schedules via the Schedule module. Moreover, FindFocus also helps you configure flexible or scheduled break plans, as well as postpone or disable focus profile protection settings via the Breaks tab.
If you are not a fan of elaborate anti-procrastination designs, FindFocus can also be used to devise a website and application profile, which will allow you to input which websites and applications you don't want to have access to while the blacklist mode is on.
During the testing period, FindFocus worked perfectly; however, we found a small bug: the last entries in the profiles and sequences list cannot be manipulated (i.e. edited, removed or copied) as the bottom toolbar will disappear. There is a workaround though: you can regain access to the toolbar by clicking on any of the profiles above the last one.
All things considered, despite its apparent complexity, FindFocus is a must-have application if you find it hard to stay focused and ignore distractions on your own.
Moreover, once you've mastered its Sequences and Schedule modules, you will most likely become unstoppable in your fight for boosting your daily productivity.
